KEN ISHII
Ken Ishii debuted in 1993 on the legendary Belgian techno label R&S Records. Since the early days of Japan’s techno scene, he has performed on the global stage and is widely recognized as one of Japan’s most important techno artists.
His 1995 album Jelly Tones brought him international acclaim, and the music video for the single Extra won MTV’s Dance Video of the Year. He also composed theme music for the 1998 Nagano Winter Olympics and appeared on the cover of Newsweek in 2000, helping introduce Japanese electronic music culture to the world.
For more than 30 years, he has performed at clubs and festivals around the globe. Combining a futuristic sensibility with the influence of Detroit techno, Ken Ishii continues to have a major impact on the techno scene in Japan and overseas.
