Rokugen Shijin Yoshiie (Gt & Vo) / Mitsuru Kotaki (Key)

 

ECSTASY TWINS is a unit formed by Rokugen Shijin Yoshiie, a solitary troubadour known for a unique performance style that combines intense guitar feedback with poetry readings, and keyboardist Mitsuru Kotaki. With roots in progressive rock, experimental music, ethnic music and many other forms, Yoshiie has also been an organizing member of GLOBAL ARK since its early days.

 

As a solo artist, he has collaborated with many musicians including Akira Inoue, Nataliya Gudziy, Aska Maret, Kazumi Watanabe, Kotaro Oshio, Emi Eleonola and KENTA HAYASHI.

 

Mitsuru Kotaki debuted with the band Cinema on CBS Sony through the Keiichi Suzuki-produced album Motion Pictures. He later participated in bands and projects including Metrofarce, Jun Togawa and Yapoos, and contributed to the sound production and recordings of numerous artists such as Kyoko Koizumi, Shigeru Izumiya, Yusaku Matsuda, Takayuki Osawa, Ruriko Kuboh, Mari Natsuki, Kenji Sawada & EXOTICS, Kinniku Shoujo Tai, Masahiro Motoki, DEAD END, Kuroyume, Mari Kaneko and Katsutoshi Morizono.

 

In 1988 he joined ECSTASY BOYS. In 1994, HOLY SPIRIT DANCE was released worldwide by Strictly Rhythm in New York, produced by Mark Kamins, known for discovering Madonna. He went on to perform in New York, Spain, Ibiza and Italy, helping lead Japan’s club scene on a global scale.

 

As ECSTASY TWINS, the duo released Kochō no yume (The Dream of a Butterfly) through GLOBAL ARK RECORDINGS in June 2023. They have also appeared at events including Inochi no Matsuri 2024, Harukaze 2024 and Hakusan Ichirino Music Festival.
